My Favorite Things 005

PARADISE (1)

As promised, I’ll be writing a “My Favorite Things” post today! I kind of had a difficult time for this one since it’s been more than 2 months since my last board and I’ve lose track of the things I like. I really should write them down for the next board so it’d be easier to compile them. But in any case, I still got 11 of my favorite things right now, so here we go!

1. The Big Bang Theory

I just started watching this yesterday, but I am enjoying it! It’s funny, light to watch, and just short enough to binge watch. I don’t have that much to say about this at the moment, but hopefully I’ll be able to update you when I’m gone deeper into the series (or to no return, some would say.. HAHAHA).

2. Hamilton in 7 Minutes – Animatic

So, I’ve loved Hamilton: An American Musical for almost a year now and, recently, I’ve gotten hooked with this particular animatic. It’s only 7 minutes long, but damn! It sends me into a feels trip, especially the last part. AND IT HAPPENS SO FAST THAT YOU’D NEED TO REPLAY CERTAIN PARTS IF NOT THE WHOLE THING!

3. Shakey’s Pizza – Manager’s Choice

Well, we don’t eat Shakey’s that often, so I appreciate the times when we do. Personally, their pizza wins, in terms of flavor, for me. Thankfully, I’ve had the chance to eat a lot of it these past 2 months because of certain occasions and people. Hopefully, I’d have some more of it in the coming days cos’ we’re supposed to have a free one this month!

4. Lipstick

I’m not much of a fan when it comes to makeup since I don’t really understand the need for it in regular days, but I’ve been trying it out these past few weeks and it’s alright, I guess. I kind of need to learn how to apply it on myself because I have to use it every Sunday and my makeup artist (aka my mom) is urging me to do my own makeup.

Well, a total of three wonderful human beings have complimented me on it, therefore I think I’m doing a “not so bad” job with it.

5. Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging

I’ve actually watched this one waaaay before, but the movie’s alive again cos’ my sisters have stumbled upon it and they wanted to watch it. I’ve actually written a post about it when I was in the peak of my hormone-y teenage life (refer to MAD RANTING if you’re up for, as the title would suggest, “mad ranting”).

And I guess that’s what the move basically is – the teenage life of a teenage girl who’s going through what teenagers go through. Well, that and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who, unfortunately, isn’t in every teenage girl’s life. Sad.

6. Chihayafuru Live Action (Parts 1 & 2)

I actually just got to watch the first part for free in a movie theater near my university and I LOVED IT! I mean, I already knew about the movie and watched the trailer, but it did not prepare me for the intensity of the film! Watching it in the big screen just added to it’s intensity because you can really feel the passion within the characters while they chase after their goals.

Kurata isn’t just a card game. I guess I’ll leave it to you to find out why.

I guess two other reasons why I like the films so much is because Suzu Hirose’s such an amazing actress, filled with energy and passion as usual, and because Mackenyu Arata is such a cutie. Enjoy~!

Bonus!

7. The Flash

I’ve already included this in my previous board, but like skating, I’m still very much hooked by it. I finished the 3rd season more than a month ago and, THANKFULLY, I only had to wait a month and a day for the 4th season. I guess it wouldn’t be as easy to watch it now, since it’s ON-GOING, but I’m already so invested in the story and the characters that I can’t quit now. Believe it or not, there was actually a point in my life where I would dream about The Flash HAHAHA.

If you haven’t watched it yet, I STRONGLY suggest that you do. The trailer below’s for the 4th season already tho, so don’t watch it if you’re only starting to watch the series! Major spoiler alert!!

8. For Sale Card Game

One Monday night, my friend (slash dorm mate) and I suddenly craved for cheesecake. She just finished a hell weekend (4 EXAMS IN A WEEKEND, I THINK.. AND SHE HAD 2 EXAMS THAT DAY!), so we decided that she deserved it and I tagged along. While we were walking to the cafe, we bumped into another dorm mate and we all went together.

See, the cafe isn’t just a cafe – it’s filled with games! So while we were waiting for our food and after we ate, we played card games. Thankfully, there was a game master who was available and he taught us how to play the games.

I’ve already forgotten the other card game we played, but this particular one was a lot of fun, too. It’s basically a buy-and-sell game that doesn’t require much strategy. It doesn’t take up much time either, so it was fun and convenient for us.

9. Cheesecake & Kopiko 78

After little deliberation, I’ve decided to put these two together since they don’t need much of an explanation.

The cheesecake is cos’ of the encounter I’ve previously mentioned in #8. I wasn’t really planning on eating one that day, but I didn’t have a reason not to either. It was quite pricey, for me, but I didn’t regret the decision since we had a lot of fun in the cafe and the slice was pretty big, too.

And, on the other hand, I’ve been drinking Kopiko 78 more frequently this semester than any previous semesters, so I thought I’d include it. It’s my go-to drink for all-nighters and for days when I don’t think I’d be able to stop myself from sleeping (aka most days tbh). It’s really not something I should be drinking twice within 6 hours, but when the need calls for it, I always got a supply, in case.

And finally…

10. Head n’ Shoulders

Like most of the items in this board, I’ve stumbled upon this, by chance. My mom bought some since it was on sale, and let me tell you, it’s really good shampoo!  Though I don’t like how it irritates my eyes, the cool feeling I get when I wash it off is what I like about it the most. It also makes me feel that my hair’s really clean and it smells really good haha. I’ve been using it since summer classes and it’s really nice.

Aside from the shampoo, he’s actually someone I really like. Since this is a “My Favorite Things” board, I’m allowed to include him, right? For the people with whom I talk to about him (well, actually, it’s “for the people who are stuck with me talking about him almost 24/7”), it’s no secret how much I like him.

As I said in one of the poems, I’ve forgotten how scary it is to like someone. And it is VERY scary. There are good days and not-so-good days, but I’d take every chance I can get (correction: every chance I can get.. that doesn’t make me look like a stalker.. cos’ I’m not.. a stalker). I try not to think about him so much and, most times, I manage to do so, but thoughts of him are always just at the back of my mind.

AGAIN, let me just emphasize that I’m no stalker and I have nothing but WHOLESOME thoughts about him. He’s just a crush and I’m still allowed to have those, right?

In any case, he makes me happy to a high enough degree to be included here. Of course a lot of people and a lot of things make me happy, but well, you get the point, I hope.

And here ends this post. Hopefully, I’d be able to post “My Favorite Things” more frequently, but each interval would probably be no less than a month since I’d need to have new stuff added and it’s not actually easy to find new things to like in to a particular degree. I’m glad that I’ve been posting a lot more than before, so I hope this keeps up, too.

Goodbye for now~~!!

Today is The Day~

The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” —Mark Twain.

Life is a lot of things and it’s different for each and every one of us. Some live a life of fame and fortune while others live a simple yet wonderful life. But there are two things about our lives that we all have in common:

  1. Life is short and uncertain, and
  2. We all have a purpose in life, whether or not we know it already.

These two things make our lives valuable and, once we realize and accept these, it would be a mistake to take anything for granted. And, upon this realization, I hope that you understand how special you are. You were put in this Earth for a purpose – for something only you can do. You might not see it now, but you will someday. For now, be patient and trust God with your life for he knows what is in store for you. There is a time for everything and, surely, your time will come.

I know it’s not easy to wait for the day you realize why you were born. There are days when we’re faced with a challenge that seems too big for us to handle and when we’re so lost, lonely, and tired that we think we’ve already had enough of life. But I tell you, life is composed of both sunny and rainy days and that, as the quote goes: “Every day may not be good, but there’s something good in everyday”. You might be having trouble understanding who you are, what you want in life, and why these things are happening to you. But, though it sounds cliche and overused, there is a reason for everything. You might never find out, but God has a way of putting us back to the track wherein we experience life in the best way possible if you’d only put your trust in Him and live life with accordance to His word.

Also, life shouldn’t just be about waiting. I mean, there’s that, but it’s also about living life and enjoying what you have now! Don’t wait for the weekends, for summer and winter breaks, and for the challenges in your life to end because there isn’t one. What you have is only today and, cherish it wisely- today is enough.  Life is too short for regretting the things you don’t do, given that what you want to do is relatively safe (for your health and well-being). Make mistakes and learn from them! Be you and not care what anyone else thinks! Love the people you are blessed with in life, share this amazing love with others, and let go of those people who only bring you pain and sadness. You deserve more than that and you are worth more than you think.

I hope my message has reached you, but if not, here’s the gist:

You are an AMAZING human being and I know a lot of people love and care for you. You might not notice them, but they know how special you are and they do their best to make you realize that, too. I’m sure they’re doing their best, but understand that they are humans, too, and they can only do so much. I urge you to cherish these people because they won’t always be there and I don’t want you to end up regretting what you could’ve done differently.

If you think you’ve done too many mistakes, don’t let it ruin any more of your life. You’re only human and humans make mistakes. As long as you’re alive, you can change the way you live your life. Sure, you can’t change the past- what’s done is done. But you can learn from your mistakes and turn these into something that make you a better person. I believe in you and I hope you believe in yourself, too.

It’s never too late to chase after your dreams! Let your passions run wild and free! Don’t let anyone make you feel bad about yourself or make you feel that you can’t achieve anything in life, because that’s just bulls**t and screw them! This is your life and you only live it once! Live it in such a way that you’d have no regrets when it’s about to come to an end.

I wish you nothing but the great and best things in life, but if I were to choose two most important ones, I wish you a life full of happiness and love.

I just finished The Flash season three and I need the fourth season ASAP. It might not be that obvious as to why finishing the season made me write this post, but if you’ve watched it, you’d understand. So much love for that show and I can’t wait till’ the next one.

Also, I cried  A LOT during the finale, so if you’re planning to watch it or if you’re currently watching it, I hope you know that it isn’t just an action-packed show. You’re gonna need tissues and, if you’re not comfortable crying in front of other people, it would be best to watch it in private. Trust me on this one.

Lastly, this post includes a few sentences about God, so if we’re of a different religion, please apply it in the context of your own religion’s belief. I don’t mean to offend anyone and please believe that I have the utmost respect for you and your religion, so I hope you give the same respect to me and mine. Let’s all live happily in peace and share the love! ❤

P.S. Regarding my last post “To The Boy I Liked Once Upon a Time”… It wasn’t just a poem I found in some old notebook. It’s something I wrote just recently and I’m happily infatuated for someone at the moment. I hope I don’t mess it up, but in any case, he’s one of my silver linings during the week.

Ja ne~

W02Y03

Two weeks into the semester of my third year in college and I’m alright. I still have my sanity intact and I haven’t fucked up, last time I checked. I don’t really intend to fuck up this semester, or any semester (past and future) for that matter. Sometimes, I just do. But I’ll try my hardest not to this semester onward… Well, rather I’ll try my best this semester onward haha.

I’ve just recently realized that binge watching The Flash during weekdays (AND weekends) isn’t such a good idea. It basically just replaced KDrama and anime as my “Ah lemme give myself some slack during dinner” bad habit. I love the series and I love the characters and I love the plot (well, I’m kinda if-y about it rn), but I have to study and practice more, especially since I’m taking the subject that I dropped last semester and re-taking a class that I failed last semester, too. I’m already in season three tho so I might binge watch it this long weekend HAHAHA… after studying ;).

Lately, I’ve been feeling more “out of place” at a certain place. Hmm well I’ve never really felt “in place” at that certain place, but I think I’ve forgotten how it felt like ’till now. I mean, there are times when I feel like I belong there and I love being part of something as great as that group, but during regular days, it’s just a bit depressing. A friend of mine asked me if I’d join the same group if I had a choice (time travel or something) and when I first thought about it, I couldn’t imagine not joining that group because of how long I’ve been part of it. It’s not an “no”, but it’s not a definite answer either. But now my answer would be a “yes”, but I would probably change most of the stuff I did wrong and didn’t do in the past. I’m not asking for an out, just a redo. But that isn’t possible now either. I guess all I can do now is to adapt (which is a REALLY hard thing to do) and to improve myself. How I feel about that place isn’t their fault AT ALL, it’s just me and I need to do something about it.

Also, for this post, I wanted to appreciate all the people in my life. First of all, I’d like to thank my family. Yes, we fight A LOT (we’ve been fighting more recently), but no matter how intense and hurtful and hurt we can get, I love them so much and I can’t imagine a life without them. (I tried not crying while writing that, but I failed.)

Secondly, I’d like to also thank my best friends, especially my best guy friend and my best friend who stays with me even though she knows that there is never a moment where I’m “calm, cool, collected” (there’s just messy and really f*cking messy), for keeping me relatively sane. Although I don’t get to see most of them often, I make the time to chat with them and invite them to hang out cos I’m clingy af.

Thirdly, a big “thank you” to the people I’m not that close with (See, I’d consider them all friends, but I don’t know if they feel the same way) but who make everyday more enjoyable. Thank you for letting me ride with you to places, for letting me drag you to spontaneous dinners, for helping me with school works, for having delightful conversations with me, and for making the walk to class less tiring and actually fun.

I’m very grateful to these people and extremely thankful for having been blessed with such amazing people in my life. So for the last (but certainly not the least) thank you, I’d like to thank God for these people and for guiding and protecting and blessing me every single day. I commit sins and make mistakes, but I am a child of God and I believe in His word. Things might seem difficult, right now, but God has a bright future planned for me and I’m going to trust Him.

So there you have it! My supposed flash post that became the basic summary of how my life rn is going. I know I swore a lot, then ended with a very religious paragraph. See, I haven’t sworn off swearing completely, but verbally, I’m swearing a bit less haha.

Before I end this post, let me just include some gifs cos I love how I can include gifs in my posts now XD.

Note: I guess I’m addicted to gifs now HAHAHA. *Insert stuff I can’t include here.. here”. And, if you’re still reading, I made the title “W02Y03” cos it’s the second week of my third year and I’ve been binge watching flash XD.

My Favorite Things 004

take me to the (3).jpg

I HAVEN’T WRITTEN A SINGLE POST FOR THE MONTH OF JULY!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! NEVER have I had a single month without posting since I began this blog (March 2012), until now. I’m both very sorry to my readers (if any) and to myself because I’ve let this blog down for a month and it’s just unacceptable, especially to past me.

But anyways, I’m back now and I am never not going to post for a whole month, no matter how busy and uninspired I might be. Since I haven’t posted in a LONG while, I’m gonna post something happy and decent… MY FAVORITE THINGS!!!

1. Ice Skating

Yuri! on Ice has definitely changed my life, at least in a small scale. It went from watching the anime to watching performances of real life skaters to trying my luck with the ice and, finally, to wanting to actually be good at skating.

I’ve only been skating for eight months (about 10 times, more or less) but I’m getting rather good at it. My forward skating is getting faster and my form is improving, too. I can glide with one foot at a time for about 3-4 seconds. I can also backward skate by doing backward swizzles! I’m getting better at it and a bit faster, but it still needs work. I like gliding side to side and, recently, I’ve been trying to spin by making a circle on the ice. I can’t really explain it well, but it’s a really fun move to do.

If you haven’t tried skating, I suggest you give it a try. I’ve made three out of four of my elementary best friends try it and two of them seem interested to learn more. One of them actually learned how to skate as a kid, but she’s already forgotten while one of them was very determined to learn without a coach, which is very admirable.

I absolutely love ice skating and I’m planning to save up to pay for formal lessons because apparently an assist coach can only teach you the basics.

2. I Know It’s Today Animatic (by Sugarberry Art)

A few months ago, my sisters showed me this animatic of the song “I Know It’s Today” from Shrek: The Musical and I just really liked it since then. I’m including it in this particular board because I recently downloaded the song on my phone and now I’m experiencing LSS. It’s supposedly sung by Fiona in the musical, but here, it’s sung by a girl who’s tired of waiting for her prince charming.

3. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to watch Wonder Woman in the cinemas, but I did get to watch this awesome movie! Unlike all the other Spiderman movies, it doesn’t start from the begin with the whole Uncle Ben arc, rather it starts after Captain America: Civil War which is Spidey’s first cameo in a Marvel film. I guess I like how they started it from there in a way, since that arc was already used in twice. And yes, both of those versions made me cry a lot, especially Andrew’s.

I don’t want to spoil you on anything about the film, so let me just say that it’s got a lot of action and I think a lot more can relate to Peter this time around with him being thought of as a kid by “the adults”, with him having a crush and wanting to go to homecoming with her, with having a super cool best friend, and with wanting to do more with life.

I’m not really an expert, but I liked this movie and, if you have the time, you should watch it, too.

4. Plastic Memories

I’ve had a copy of this anime for a while now, but I heard it’s a bit of a tearjerker and I wasn’t up for those until recently. I think I’d spoil you if I say that it’s a lot similar to a particular anime, so let me just say that I think it deals a lot with life, friendship, and love. I know my description’s pretty vague, but it made me cherish life more and it made me remember the quote “Memento Mori” which translates to “Remember that you have to die”. I gave it a 9.5/10 just because I felt something was missing, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Really solid anime and I definitely recommend it!

5. Ice Skating Tutorials

Related to the first item, tutorials from Youtube really help me learn how to ice skate better. Though I got an assist coach to check my form during forward skating and to teach me how to backward skate and stop, I think the tutorials are still very helpful to beginners and even for advanced skaters, as well. There’s a lot of them in Youtube, but the ones I’ve downloaded are from Hockey Tutorial, Eye Katie, and Sports and Outdoors.

6. The Flash

I just recently acquired a copy of all the episodes of The Flash from season 1-3 and I decided to binge watch before school starts. I’m already done with first season (binge watched till’ 3 am), so now I’m watching the second season. Since I’m a bit late, there’s A LOT of spoilers available on the internet, but I am sticking with just watching the series because if I spoil myself, even a little bit, I’d just want to know how things work out and end up not finishing the series.

I definitely think Grant Gustin is a cutie and a hottie (I mean, who doesn’t??) but that’s not the only reason why I love watching the series. It’s also cause’ of the action and the plot. The characters really have their own different personalities and the plot talks a lot about family, friendship, working hard towards your potential, and the future. It’s a really great series to watch and to follow (since season four’s coming soon!!!).

7. Inokori Sensei (English Cover by JubyPhonic)

Another video I’ve been slightly addicted to. I’m specifying a cover for this item, but the original one’s really good, too. I just can’t understand the Japanese characters in the title, so I just went with this one. I won’t tell you anymore about it cos everything’s spoilers, but it’s just a little over 5 minutes, so please do watch it!!

8. Dean Fujioka

I knew him as the singer of the AMAZING Yuri! On Ice opening song, but damn this guy is really A LOT more than that. I found out he also acts in dramas (both Taiwanese and Japanese) and is fluent in four languages, besides his singing career! I just finished the last episode Please Love the Useless Me and thought to check the site if there were any more episodes when I saw the cast list and there he was! Dean freakin’ Fujioka!!

Not only is he an amazing singer and fluent in Japanese (1/4), but he’s also a great actor! Like daaaaaamn! You should really watch his dramas and keep in mind that he’s the singer of History Maker! I’ve watched two of them (Please Love the Useless Me and Hapi Mari). Also, he’s a 36-year old man married to a beautiful Indonesian woman with Japanese origins and they have two adorable children (twins!!).

Just keep that in mind when you watch the dramas haha. You’ll find someone, don’t worry.

9. ReLife

Like Plastic Memories, I had a copy of this anime for a while, but I only decided to watch it a few weeks ago. I’ve seen the manga around, so I was glad that they made an anime. It deals with friendship, a bit of love, and a lot about life. As you can probably tell from the title, the main character is given another chance at life and what he does from there on.. you’ll just have to see.

I gave the anime a 9.9999../10 only because it was cut too soon. I guess I’m just gonna have to read the manga. Also, it’s gonna have a live action this year!!
